Do you have VD?

So today in the discussion for my advertising class, we began to talk about the underground movement called 'Anti-Valentine's Day.' Which is really counter-productive because now that it has become mainstream, people who protest Valentines day for being a holiday created by a corporation for the sole purpose of consumption are now consuming to protest consuming. Make sense? I didn't think so. We were encouraged to look online for anti-VD cards, and I found this overly-amusing Web site with cards that are even more hilarious than the image you see at the right from Meish.org. Take a look, and e-mail one to a friend if you're trying to avoid caring about VD, and end up caring anyways.

Kim, Laura, and I plan on watching horror movies on Wednesday after recording the podcasts, and watching American Idol of course. Speaking of podcasts, I should mention that the primary reason I"ve been MIA for the past two weeks is that I've been working on the Web site for our new podcast called, Reality Check: American Idol Style. Please check it out, and subscribe if you like American Idol. We're all super excited. Well, I'm super excited. Kim and Laura are just along for the ride as usual. I'll try to post more often.

I heard the first edition of the reality check. It was very good, but then again you all are old pros. I look forward to disagreeing with you throughout the season.

Horror movies, eh? What are you watching? Is this an anti-VD campaign because Valentine's Day is scary?

Piccu, we definetly look forward to hearing your opinions throughout the season, we would love you forever if you or someone from your posse called in to the show. As far as the horror movies go, it's not that VD is scary, but rather that horror movies are the farthest thing from romance, well, aside from the obligatory sex before gore scenes. So it's a mini-protest.

If you haven't got your lineup set, may I recommend High Tension. It's a French movie, but it is dubbed and you never notice. Get the unrated version. There is some gore, but mostly it's intense.

Also, Dog Soldiers is a pretty cool movie. It's about werewolves and is a British film. Those are two that our group watched during our annual Scary Movie Marathon around Halloween.

Another one that is not really horror but keeps you on the edge of your seat is Hitchcock's Rear Window. This may be my all time favorite movie.

I look forward to calling one day and dominating your podcast like I get accused of dominating mine.
